Position Vacant: Postdoctoral Scientist
Molecular Genetics Division – Epigenetics Laboratory

Dr Suter and the Epigenetics laboratory are seeking a postdoctoral scientist to join a young and highly motivated team that focuses on epigenetics and its contribution to phenotypic variation and disease. Specifically, the project on offer involves investigation of the molecular mechanisms underlying mammalian epigenetic inheritance. The work will involve mouse husbandry, specialised molecular biology techniques, and next-generation sequencing. Applicants will have a PhD in Genetics or related discipline, and at least two years postdoctoral experience. Those applicants with previous experience with epigenetics will be given serious consideration. Ideally the successful applicant would be competitive for fellowship funding.

Position Available: Bioinformatics Research

To complement the recent acquisition of next-generation sequencing technology the Molecular Genetics Division of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute is seeking a full-time Bioinformatics Researcher to join our state-of-the-art functional genomics/epigenomics program. The role will involve analysis of a diverse array of transcriptomic, genomic and epigenomic research, and will require a dynamic and highly collaborative individual. The successful applicant will be familiar with existing tools, able to adapt and modify these tools where appropriate, and have the capability to develop novel tools. Publication of novel tools will be encouraged. Access to infrastructure and support will be available through collaboration with the Structural and Computational Biology Division of the Institute.
Excellent command of the Unix (Linux) operating system and the ability to program is vital. Fluency in at least one major programming language is essential; perl or C++ is desirable. Experience in nucleic acid database mining, including analysis of large datasets from high-throughput sequencing or microarrays is highly desirable. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills are absolutely essential.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
